Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the academic year 2009-2010. The Department offers 4 years (8 Semesters) B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) degree program of Anna University. Mechanical engineers are responsible for the design, analysis, and supervision of the production of mechanical systems and devices. They work across various industries, focusing on areas like product development, energy systems, and manufacturing processes.

To impart quality education and state of the art training to the students in the fundamentals and concepts of 'Mechanical Engineering' in undergraduate level so as to generate knowledge based technical manpower with a high degree of integrity and ethical standards.

Prospects for a Career in Mechanical Engineering

As it is such a broad discipline, there are numerous career paths down which a mechanical engineering degree might lead. These include, but are by no means limited to:

CAD Technicians: CAD experts utilize specialized software to make exact technical drawings, working with engineers to transform ideas into comprehensive designs for manufacture or building.

Aerospace Engineer: Aerospace engineers use the concepts of aerodynamics, materials, and propulsion to design and construct spacecraft, airplanes, and associated systems, resulting in safe and effective aerospace vehicles. They work on a variety of tasks, including as navigation, propulsion systems, and structural design.

Automotive Engineer: Automotive engineers design and build automobiles, with an emphasis on performance, safety, and fuel efficiency. They work on a variety of components, including engines, electronics, and structural parts, to build creative and dependable vehicles.

Nuclear Engineer: Nuclear engineers deal with nuclear energy and radiation to design, build, and maintain systems for power generation, medicinal uses, and research. They guarantee that nuclear-related initiatives are safe, efficient, and meet regulatory criteria.
